Guest Speaker in Music class
Andrew's mom has kindly organized for the Grade 5 students to have a guest speaker come to their Music class on February 1st. Here is some information about her that has been provided by Andrew's mom:
Dear all:
I am so proud to invite an outstanding Taiwanese pianist to the Grade 5 classroom. Artemis Yen Hua-Rong will be coming to our school and giving a music appreciation course to the G5 students. The course will be organized to take place on Monday Feb 1, at 11:00 am in the school's Music classroom. It's a great opportunity to teach our children more about Classical music. Pianist Yen will perform by herself, and then explain to the children how to appreciate it.
Artemis Yen Hua-Rong was the first person in Taiwan to enter Moscow State Conservatory, (which was named after P. I. Tchaikovsky) immediately after graduating from TNUA. She later obtained her Ph.D. in Piano Performance to become the first Taiwanese to receive such degree from the Moscow State Conservatory over the past 130 years.
Since childhood, she studied under the winner of the International Piano Competition J. S. Bach, Professor Song Yun-Peng; during her stay in Russia, she also studied under piano maestro H. G. Neuhaus’s apprentices, Professor E. V. Malinin and Professor L. N. Naumov, therefore she was deeply influenced by Russian music tradition. Yan Hua-Rong is active in Taiwan and Russia with frequent recitals, chamber music and concertos. In addition, she was often invited to write music critiques and articles. Artemis Yen Hua-Rong is currently a full-time associate professor in the Department of Music, at Shih Chien University.
