Today in 5th grade we...
- Learned how to plan for a piece of narrative writing (ex. setting, characters, action, dialogue, time)
- Worked on our reading accuracy by learning and practicing the new reading strategy "Stretch or blend sounds in words"
- Explored 4 types of graphs. Double bar graph, histogram, double line graph, and circle (pie) graph. We discussed how each is used when given data.
- Discussed how geography influences the development of an early civilization by working in groups to develop a village through a drawing.
- Reviewed the 3 domains and 6 kingdoms we have learned this far in Science. We discussed the different characteristics of each kingdom, and came up with example species for each.
Homework:
Math - Finish "What I learned", "Proof", "Reflection" for our "Types of Graphs" lesson
Reading - Choose one Word Work activity to complete at home using the 15 words for this week
