Today in 5th grade we...
- Learned about foreshadowing, and identified 3 separate times Hatchet used foreshadowing to hint to us about what might happen.
- Continued our initial reading conferences during Daily 2.
- Used stem-and-leaf plots and line plots to draw conclusions and make predictions.
- Pretended we were scribes living in Sumer by creating our own cuneiform tablets.
- Finished our unit on living things growing and reproducing, and then started preparing for our test tomorrow.
Homework:
Math - Workbook p. 53
Reading - Cougars comprehensions question #1
Science - Finish the unit 4 review and study for a unit 4 test tomorrow
Extras:
- Minnie, Phoebe, Anne, Leann, Victor, and Andrew have requested to get a flu shot. These will take place tomorrow morning at 10:15.
- Just a reminder that this Friday is All Saints day. Please help your child to complete their costume at home. On this day students will come to school dressed in their uniform, and bring their costumes. We will have time to change into our costumes after lunch (we have 30 minutes to do this). Then there will be a variety of activities taking place until approx 3:15. Parents are invited to arrive at the school at 3:15 so they can watch and take pictures of the students parading their costumes around the school.
- Another reminder is that there will not be school next Monday November 2nd. This day is for teachers to have some professional development time.
Below you will see pictures of the Grade 5 students teaching a lesson to the Grade 1 students about living things vs. nonliving things.
